In our Pink Cart journey, we've long been hoping for a Pink City. Can you imagine? Pink Carts at every home, at every curb, on every street, on every block, in an entire city! Can you imagine the level of awareness those residents would have about the risk factors of breast cancer, about the importance of early detection in saving lives? Can you imagine the number of carts that would be paying tribute to the women and men we've lost to this disease, the number of women and their families who would feel overwhelmingly supported by their community as they wage their war against breast cancer? Well we won't have to wait much longer...
A few months ago there was a meeting with the City of Gloucester, New Jersey. One of our business partners was in the room, meeting on a different topic, and happened to mention the Pink Cart program. City officials really liked the idea and wanted to learn more. Once our sales team sat down with them and explained the program, they were hooked! The City issued a bid that included a request for an option for Pink Carts - we bid on it and won! We've worked with the City to make the program work with their budget so there will be some small changes. But, with nearly 20,000 homes to supply with carts, PINK is going to make a bold statement in Gloucester starting December 1st.
Besides the sea of PINK, what we really like about Gloucester's story is that this Pink City came about because of one person mentioning our program. They happened to be talking to a decision maker, a hauler, a person of influence who saw the importance of this program and this movement to Kick Breast Cancer to the Curb. We hope you remember that you never know what a simple comment or a casual conversation can lead to. So take every opportunity you have to spread the word about Pink Carts - tell everyone you know about their impact, their style, their purpose. Tell them why you love the program and why they should get involved. You never know, you may be igniting a spark that leads to the next Pink City.
