Breast Cancer isn't funny. It's scary. It can be overwhelming and intimidating. It's also something that 1 in 8 women will experience in her lifetime. It becomes a part of these women's lives, becomes a part of their families' lives. And most of the time, it's certainly not the only thing they've got going on! They all have to keep going, keep moving, keep working, keep paying their bills. And, hopefully, they keep laughing as much as they can.
We've all heard that laughter is the best medicine. Think about it - when we laugh we're releasing tension, letting go of stress, and finding some happiness or at least some humor in ordinary and even difficult moments. All the fighters, family members, and caretakers who have or who are now experiencing what it means to battle this disease know that sometimes, you just really need a good belly laugh. There are so many moments, hours, days, weeks, where we are in the trenches and that laughter, that joy, that humor, helps to remind us that there are always moments to cherish, moments to joke about, laugh about, and rejoice in.
So how do you do it? What makes you laugh, what helps keep you going? Is it a joke from a friend, a funny movie, a real life "blooper" that happens spontaneously? Is it a snafu you made at work, something funny your toddler blurted out, or something totally unbelievable that you saw on TV? We want to know what really makes you double over with laughter. Leave us a comment and tell us about something that has brought a smile to your face in the midst of your battle with Breast Cancer. Or just leave a story to help someone else have a good laugh.
This week The Pink Cart team is really thinking about all the families who are fighting for their loved ones and those families who have lost loved ones and we're hoping you're all finding something to giggle about.
